Pipe bands

The first pipe band I played with was my local pipeband – Fraserburgh RBL which was in fact where my piping journey began.

After a few years I then decided to join Buchan Pipe Band, based in Peterhead. However after a year I felt I wasn’t quite ready to play at their standard

This led me onto joining Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band from Aberdeen. I spent many enjoyable years playing there but as exams were approaching the late nights and travel were all too much.

During my time playing at Deeside I still received tutoring from pipers in Buchan and they suggested that I should come back. So at the end of 2012 I rejoined Buchan and that’s where I currently play today.

During my time playing in Buchan the band have won many major championships. In 2013 the band were only a few points short of a grand slam, winning 4 out of the 5 major championship titles with one of these being the World Championships.

In early 2015 I successfully auditioned in gaining a place in the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. During my time there I have played at the Royal Highland Show, The Gardyne Theatre, Eden Court and Celtic Connections. In August 2016 I will be traveling to Uist and Barra as well as Switzerland to perform in the Avenches Tattoo
