Straight from the core are a brand new energetic band on the traditional Scottish music scene, formed in April 2016. The band play a whole spectrum of music ranging from traditional to contemporary and also the occasional cover of a well known song – just for good measure! Its members have a wide musical background allowing them to experiment with new ideas. Three of its members also currently play for Buchan Pipe Band from Peterhead and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland based in Glasgow. Their current members are: Sean McHugh (Bagpipes), Danny Hutcheson (Bagpipes), Amber Thornley (Fiddle and Mandolin), Sarah Grant (Keyboard and tenor drum), Stephen Simpson (Drum Kit and snare drum)
The band are hoping to make its debut gig over summer 2016.
